Taksim Nippon Hotel – short stop in the heart of Istanbul

After a long bus trip from Antalya to Istanbul, we decided to wait a little in Istanbul before returning to Ukraine. First of all we were tired, second moment – properly Istanbul: one of the most attractive cities in the world. I walked by his historical streets many times, but I will never get bored to discover this city again and again.

Since it was unscheduled visit, we chose hotel upon arrival. We were wondering just about places, which were in Taksim region. There are many hotels, most of them are not multistory, not so luxury from outside. After short searching we chose Nippon hotel: not bad place for short staying, but with many limitations.

About location

Road from Nippon hotel to Istiklal street (which is very famous among the tourists) will take 10-15 min. by walking. On this street there are many shops, restaurants, and night clubs. Also we found there embassies of different countries, old cathedral, handmade souvenirs. On the same street with our hotel located rent car office, exchanger, bistro-cafe, hair salon, grocery store, few hotels (Grand Oztanik hotel, Golden Age hotel). These hotels have their restaurants, where were possible to organize dinner. However, we preferred to have our dinner in the places, which were near the Bosporus or Marmara Sea.

About rooms

Nippon hotel doesn’t have family rooms, but for children they can organize individual bed. All rooms are without balcony, and if you are a smoker, you should go outside.

View from our window was not attractive, and every morning I was forced to wake up about 7 a.m. because of sounds. I don’t know exactly reason: maybe walls were too thin, maybe staff spoke too loudly, but in any case this is a big limitation of Nippon hotel!

Of course there were also some advantages accommodations:

·     More than 100 TV channels. For me it was huge plus since we stayed in hotel with my son, who can understand just Russian language. There were about 5-6 Russian channels and even few Ukrainian channels! To find sought-for channel was easy: just to open special TV-menu.

·       To wash a body was possible in the bathtub or in the shower. We never had problems with hot water.

·       Room service was good. Every day house keeper changed our bedclothes, towels, gave us new bottle of shampoo, hair conditioner, gel for the shower. Hotel doesn’t serve visitors with toothpaste, tooth brush, gel for the shower, disposable razor.

Also in every room there is a mini-bar, with spirits, wines, cold beverages, snakes. Prices there were in few times higher than in supermarket. However, this is the common thing almost for every hotel in Istanbul.

About food

We ordered package which included breakfast. Our breakfast was in the restaurant with colorful design. I liked food there: we had big choice, everything was fresh, and tasty. Cold snacks (cheese, olives, fruits) every day were the same, but main dishes were changing.

We didn’t order any food from room service menu, but there were too much options. Also there was restaurant, where visitors could organize their launch, dinner. Till the day there were many people in the Lobby.

Additional options

Unfortunately, Nippon hotel doesn’t have SPA service. In the reception we learnt that there was no sauna, swimming pool or steam room. In the downstairs we found fitness center, but we didn’t have any energy to visit it.

In the same stair with dinning room there was business center. First I thought that it would be big hall with huge table, comfortable soft chairs. However, it looked like small internet club, with 3 computers, which were connected to internet. This service was used by people, who arrived to hotel without laptop. To connect to internet was possible from the room: Wi-Fi there was free.

Nippon hotel will be good option for people, who plan to stay in Istanbul short time, and who want to organize fast sight-seeing in this historical city. Tourists, who plan to stay in Istanbul long time should look for more attractive place. I think for the same price which requires Nippon hotel per 1 night (150 dollars) possible to find better hotel.

Фаст-тур по Анталии: как получить максимум впечатлений за 1 день

Наш отдых в Анталии мы решили посвятить не только изучению окрестностей отелей, хотя эти самые окрестности были весьма примечательны. Во время своих путешествий мне нравится осматривать исторические достопримечательности, узнавать интересную информацию о новых городах. Таким образом, по прибытию в наш первый 5* отель в Анталии, я сразу предупредила сына, что не буду проводить 24 часа в сутки в отеле.

Через пару дней моя подруга арендовала машину, и мы отправились в самое сердце Анталии, для изучения крепости Antalya Castle. Это здание оказалось привлекательный снаружи, а вот изнутри... Изнутри оно так и осталось неизведанным для меня. Мы не смогли попасть в замок, и на это были веские причины: дорога в Antalya Castle пролегала через рынок Old town Grand Bazar. А что такое турецкий рынок?! Вот-вот: шопоголик внутри меня сразу же проснулся, и категорически отказывался сдерживать свои запросы. Мы изучили практически каждый магазинчик на рынке. И мы не просто проверяли товар, - мы активно пополняли мой и Сашин гардероб спортивной одеждой. Во время нашей прогулки по Grand Bazar я открыла для себя 2 важные истины:

·   Здесь можно купить только спортивную одежду, обувь. Туристы, которых интересует официально-деловой, либо иной стиль одежды, не смогут найти на рынке ничего полезного. Для брендовых новинок советую ехать в Lara region. В этом регионе есть несколько моллов, которые позволят совершить основательный шоппинг.

·  Поторговаться перед покупкой определенного товара определенно стоит. В одном магазинчике нам приглянулось много полезных вещей: узкие джинсы, спортивные костюмы для Саши, спортивные штаны для меня. Качество данной продукции было превосходным. Пока я с расширенными от любопытства глазами осматривала наполненные модной одежкой прилавки, моя общительная подруга завязала разговор с продавцом. Во время их продолжительной беседы выяснилось, что местные торговцы завышают цены для туристов на 30-40%. При этом, туристам даже не следует открывать рот: наметанный глаз продавцов быстро определяет, кто турок, а кто нет.

Наш плодотворный шоппинг подошел к концу, когда часы перевалили за 15.00. Не сдаваясь в своих попытках осмотреть главную достопримечательность Анталии, мы оперативно двинулись к цели. На пути к пункту назначения мы встретили харизматичного рекламщика, который предложил нам совершить мини-тур на яхте. После изучения программы тура (пиратская мини-пещера, пещера Босфор, местный пляж, обзор нескольких регионов с воды: Лара, Коньяалты, Фалезис) мы все-таки решили поразвлечься на яхте...

Прекрасное владение турецким языком (спасибо подруге) обеспечило нам неплохую скидку: за 3 билета мы заплатили 25$. С туристов за аналогичный тур запрашивают 50$ (c пары). Экскурсия заняла не более 45 минут, однако много времени было потрачено на ожидание: рекламщик пытался по-максимуму заполнить яхту путешественниками...

После экскурсии нас ждал сюрприз: наши фото в необычных рамочках. Естественно, мы их купили:)

По окончанию короткого "заплыва" было около 17.00: посетить крепость мы уже не могли. С другой стороны, возвращаться в отель в столь ранний час не особо хотелось. Подруга предложила поехать в Кемер, что расположен в 50 минутах езды от центра Анталии. На тот момент все мои знания об этом городке можно было вместить в два предложения:

ü    Природа в Кемере просто шикарная.

ü    Основная масса туристов - русские.

Этого оказалось достаточно, чтобы с энтузиазмом принять предложение подружки.

Из Анталии в Кемер лучше ехать по набережной: вид отсюда просто шикарный, и время бежит не так медленно:) 

В этом живописном местечке мы не задержались надолго, однако даже за короткое время я открыла для себя много нового:

·  Кемер - идеальное место для красочных фотосессий: горы, Средиземное море, зеленые насаждения создают прекрасный фон.

· Набережная - центр города. Здесь сосредотачивается огромное количество колоритных ресторанчиков, сувенирных лавочек. Устроить романтический ужин можно на одной из яхт. В центре Кемера находится небольшой рынок, где продают продукты, сувениры. Для более продуктивного шоппинга нужно ехать в центр Анталии.

·      Основная масса приезжих загорают на центральном местном пляже, где без проблем можно арендовать полотенца, шезлонги, заказать еду или напитки. Любители активного отдыха могут заняться парасейлингом, прокатиться на водных лыжах или водном мотоцикле, организовать экскурсию на корабле. Морская водичка там (мы посещали Кемер в конце сентября) была теплой и спокойной.

·   В Кемере всего один ночной клуб (не считая заведений при отелях) - Инферно, который известен на всю Анталию. Сюда ежегодно приезжают DJ, певцы, танцоры с других стран, чтобы разнообразить ночную жизнь в Кемере.

После осмотра основных достопримечательностей Кемера, мы сели в машину и отправились в наш отель. Не могу утверждать, что в будущем вернусь в этот городок для продолжительного отдыха, но одно я знаю точно: в следующем году мы исследуем крепость Анталии изнутри!

Fast sight-seeing in Antalya: how to get maximum impressions in one day

In our holidays in Antalya we decided to spend not just inside hotels, even they were attractive. When I travel, I prefer to discover historical places, get new knowledge about every new city. So, when we arrived to our first 5* hotel in Antalya I directly told my son: "I hope you know, we will not stay 24 hours in a day in this hotel!" His answer (of course!) was positive. In few days we rented a car and went to city center.

First of all I visited place, which I "definitely would like." That special place must have been Antalya Castle: perfect from outside, but still novel from inside. We couldn't come inside that building, because of one important point: while going to that place we passed Old town Grand Bazar. Shopaholic inside me woke up very fast, and I couldn't stop myself. I think, we checked most of the stores in that big market. And I didn't just check, I also replenished my and Sasha's wardrobe with modern sport clothes. During our walking in Grand Bazar I learnt two important things:

· There possible to buy just sport clothes, snickers. Tourists, who prefer to wear official clothes will not find anything useful in this market. For such kind of purchases better to go in Lara region. There many huge malls, which sell brand items. We didn't visit those malls, since we didn't have enough time.

·   Tourists should bargain. In one store we found many needed clothes: narrow jeans, sport costume for Sasha, sport pants for me. Quality of those clothes was perfect. My communicative girl friend, till I checked different products, started to talk with seller. While their long speech she learnt that price on the clothes for tourists most of the sellers make higher, than for Turkish people. To understand, who is real Turkish, and who came from other countries for them is easy. And for this even no need to open a mouth...

It was about 3 p.m. We just finished our shopping, and continued to move to our destination. However, in the middle of our route we met one guy, who made an advertisement of Yacht Trip. After checking program of the trip (mini cave Pirate, Bosporus cave, Aqua beach some parts of Lara, Konyaltti, and Phalesis) we decided to try this attraction...

Perfect knowledge of Turkish language (thanks my girl friend) made positive effect on the price: for 3 tickets we paid 25$. For tourists couple it coasted 50$. Our Yacht travel took about 45 minutes, but we spent much time on the cost for waiting other tourists.

Before leaving the Yacht there was a surprise waiting for us: our photo in attractive frame. Of course we bought it:)

After our short excursion was finished, time showed about 5 p.m.: we missed time for visit our desired Castle, but it was too early for return to hotel. My girl friend offered me to visit Kemer: road there takes about 50 minutes. Before I heard about this town, that it has very attractive nature and it full of Russian tourists. It was enough to make me wonder, and very soon we were driving to green pretty Turkish town.

From Antalya to Kemer better to go from seafront: view there perfect, time will past quickly

·   Kemer - perfect place for picturesque photos: mountains, Mediterranean Sea, green areas make perfect background.

·   Center of the city - Marina, where many Yachts, restaurants, souvenirs stores. There are also small markets, which were selling some clothes and souvenirs. There were no big malls: for productive shopping better to move in Antalya.

·  Kemer has big public beach, where possible to rent towels, chaise-longue, order food or cocktails. People, who prefer more active rest can order parasailing, try water ski or water bike, organize boat trip. Sea water there (we visited Kemer in the end of September) was warm and calm.

·  There is just one night club in the Kemer - Inferno. It is one of the most famous club in Antalya. Every year foreign singers, DJ, dancers are welcome to the Inferno for making night life in Kemer more attractive. However, no need to forget about hotels in Kemer: some of them have their own night clubs.

After Kemer we sat in the car, and full of new impressions and new pictures backed to our hotel. I don't think, that in future I will back to this town, but I am sure, that in the next year we will visit Antalya Castle!

Отдых в отеле Venezia Palace (Анталия): искусство самоудовлетворения

Известие о поселении в отеле Venezia Palace не вызвало у меня должного восторга. Возможно, настроение было подпорчено пасмурным небом, а может я злилась на себя: три дня подряд мы не могли проснуться вовремя на самолет. Как бы то ни было, все мои негативные мысли улетучились, как только я пересекла главный вход отеля. Мои руки автоматически потянулись за фотоаппаратом: эту красоту однозначно следовало зафиксировать.

К сожалению, времени для фотосъемки у меня было более, чем достаточно: регистрация в отеле заняла больше часа. И это для меня осталось загадкой: пик сезона уже прошел (конец октября), посетителей было мало.

Скрасить свое скучное ожидание мне помог Лобби-бар. Я заказала Martini и сок для сына. Меня удивил тот факт, что данный алкогольный напиток мне налили в обычный стакан. Как оказалось, специальных бокалов для Martini здесь нет.

О номерах

Дизайн главного холла отеля, амфитеатр, башня Campanille - нечто восхитительное! Однако, у меня сложилось впечатление, что архитектор не выполнил до конца свою работу. Номера расположены в обычном многоэтажном здании, где отсутствует какой-либо намек на прекрасный итальянский город.

Отель Venezia Palace имеет 3 блока с номерами, которые схожи по своему дизайну

Наш номер просторностью не отличался. Здесь было 2 кровати, шкаф, плазма, кондиционер, маленький бар, сейф, терраса. Мебель сравнительно новая, тщательную уборку проводили каждый день. На ресепшине нам сообщили, что в отеле нету семейных номеров, но я не уверена, что это так. Хотя, если речь идет об отеле Venezia Palace я ничему не удивлюсь.

Огорчило отсутствие Интернета в номерах. Отель не предоставляет даже платных услуг. Таким образом, тем, кому срочно нужно позвонить за тридевять земель следует бежать в Лобби. Только здесь есть бесплатный Wi-Fi, но скорость здесь, весьма приличная.

О еде

Главный ресторан Venezia Palace - ресторан Bellini, меню которого не впечатлило своей разнообразностью. Практически одинаковые блюда подавались к завтраку и обеду, в вечернее время можно было насладиться необычным лакомством. В первый наш вечер мое внимание привлекли суши. Я решила устроить себе ужин в японском стиле, и наполнила тарелку различными видами суши. Но эта дегустация была единственной: основное блюдо, соус к нему были не вкусными!

В последующие свои вечера в этом заведении я решила отведать креветки, мидии, рыбу, и осталась довольна. В целом, ресторан мне понравился: еда была нежирной и полезной. Кроме того, здесь было диетическое меню, меню для детей, бар, где разливали алкогольные и безалкогольные напитки.

Ресторан Bellini укомплектован залом для курящих. Не могу назвать это летней площадкой: здесь все закрыто. Тем не менее, сигаретным дымом в помещении не воняет

Негативный момент - отсутствие табличек с названием блюд. Я не решилась пробовать некоторые из них лишь потому, что не смогла визуально определить состав продуктов.

После 12.00 мы ходили в Tea Garden: помимо бесплатного мороженного, нам предлагали турецкий кофе, чай. К 18.00 в этом же заведении посетителей угощали более "тяжелой" пищей: сосисками гриль, котлетами, свежими булочками.

От аниматоров я узнала о существовании кафе Florian, где маленькие туристы могли испробовать несколько сортов мороженного. Но отыскать это заведение нам так и не удалось.

В отеле Venezia Palace есть 4 ресторана A'La Carte: итальянский, бразильский, азиатский, рыбный. За все спиртные напитки в указанных заведениях нужно платить, в азиатском ресторане система "Все включено" вообще не действует.

О бассейнах

Отель укомплектован 3 бассейнами:

· Закрытый бассейн. Находится в главном здании отеля. В этом же помещении установлены столы для настольного тенниса, есть джакузи.

·      Главный, открытый бассейн. Его изюминка - Gondola Bar, что расположен в самом центре водоема. Посетители столь необычного места могут побаловать себя шотами, длинными либо безалкогольными коктейлями.

Возле бассейна в течение дня не проводились занятия по аква аэробике, не было танцев, конкурсов. Основное место, где сосредотачивались отдыхающие - Gondola Bar

Данный бассейн укомплектован джакузи, которое функционировало до 17.00. Мои попытки организовать продолжительный гидромассаж каждый раз заканчивались провалом: я быстро замерзала, и пыталась отогреться посредством плаванья. Не могу назвать себя профессиональным пловцом, но особо поплавать мне не удалось из-за маленькой глубины: 140 см максимум. Несколько раз мы играли в водное поло, но единственным моим противником был Саша.

Отель Venezia Palace имеет собственный пляж. Неподалеку от пляжа расположена зона для релаксации, бар

·       Маленький открытый бассейн - для совсем юных отдыхающих.

О развлечениях

В течение дня отдыхающие могли сыграть в настольный теннис, водное поло, мини-футбол, посетить аквапарк либо насладиться панорамой с башни Campanille. Оборудование для подобных развлечений (мячи для тенниса, футбольные, волейбольные мячи) нужно было брать у аниматоров, но их кабинка зачастую была закрытой. В первый день нашего пребывания в Venezia Palace у меня сложилось мнение, что мы единственные посетители, однако к вечеру все поменялось.

По завершению ужина (21.00) начинал свою работу амфитеатр. После очень короткой детской дискотеки (не более 30 мин.) зрителей ожидала шоу программа.

Продолжить вечер можно было на летней площадке, где звучала живая музыка. В этом месте могло быть очень даже весело, если бы аниматоры и певцы не засыпали на ходу...

Очаг ночной жизни в Venezia Palace - клуб под открытым небом La Piazza, который порадовал своим дизайном. Музыка была идеальной: мы танцевали до рассвета. Во время нашего визита посетителей можно было пересчитать на пальцах, но для нас это означало больше места на танцполе.

Главное достоинство отеля Venezia Palace - его дизайн. Дополнительным бонусом для нас после Topkapi Palace было небольшое количество отдыхающих. Мы не тратили свое время на поиски шезлонгов. Нам не приходилось каждый раз судорожно высматривать свободные столики в главном ресторане отеля. Цены на проживания в Venezia Palace - около 130 евро/сутки, что ниже, чем в отелях Topkapi и Kremlin Palace.

Однако туристы, которых интересует красочная ночная жизнь в Анталии однозначно будут разочарованы. Возможно, причина в датах посещения: мы останавливались в Venezia Palace в конце сентября. Возможно, все дело в аниматорах, которые не отличались активностью, и на протяжении дня бродили по отелю со скучающими лицами. Могли ли приезжие получить положительный импульс от них?! В любом случае, позитивное настроение мы привезли с собой, поэтому время в отеле Venezia Palace мы провели хорошо!

Vacation in Hotel Venezia Palace (Antalya): art of self-satisfaction

In the day, when we decided to move in hotel Venezia Palace I was not in the best mood. Maybe dull weather was guilty, or maybe I was angry on myself, because 3 days in a sequence we slept away on the plane. Whatever, all my depressive minds ran away just I entered this unusual place. My hands automatically took camera, and I started to take pictures.

Unfortunately I had enough time for pictures: we spent on registration more than 1 hour. I still can't understand why: there were not much visitors. It wasn't the hottest point of season (end of September).

Lobby helped me to brighten a time in the reception. I ordered Martini and juice (for my son), and absence special glasses for alcohol drink in such luxurious hotel made me wonder.

About rooms

Design of Venezia Palace - something marvelous, but it seems like architect didn't finish his job. Accommodations were in usual buildings, without any hint about beautiful city.

Our room was not big. On the reception we learnt that there are no family rooms in hotel, but I am not sure it was true. We had 2 beds, wardrobe, TV, air conditioner, small bar, terrace.

Room service was good, and attentive to details. What I didn't like in the room - Internet. Hotel can't offer tourists even surcharge Wi-Fi! If somebody need urgently connect with anyone, he should run to Lobby. Just there is free Wi-Fi, and there Internet speed was good.

About food

The main restaurant of Venezia Palace - Bellini Restaurant. Menu there was almost the same in the breakfast and launch. In the evening, it was possible to try something attractive. First time when we came here for the dinner I found few kinds of sushi. I couldn't ignore that dish, and filled my saucer. I made that tasting just once and never repeated anymore: sushi, sauce - all were bad! However, in my next dinner in Bellini restaurant I chose shrimps, mussels, fish, and was happy. I liked that Restaurant because there were light and healthy foods. There are few sections: for babies, diet menu, and bar, where possible to order different kind of drinks.

Bellini Restaurant also has area, where possible to smoke. I can not call it summer playground, because its not opened. However, there wasn't any smell of cigarettes

The negative thing - absence screens, I didn't try some dishes, because I couldn't understand what it was.

In the launch time we went to the Tea Garden, where served ice cream, tea, Turkish coffee. Ice cream was available from 12 to 6 p.m., after started "hard food", with grill sausages, meat, fresh bread.

As we learnt from animators to try ice cream was possible also in Cafe Florian, but I couldn't find this place!

Venezia Palace also has 4 restaurants A'La Carte: Italian, Brazilian, Asian, Fish Restaurant. For any alcohol there visitors should pay. In Asian Restaurant all dishes in menu need money.

About pools

There are 3 swimming pools: huge, closed (in the same building with ping-pong), and tiny (for kids).

Gondola Bar is the main attraction of big pool. It is located in the middle of the pool, and there barman served perfect Tequila. For kids they make special non-alcohol cocktails.

Till the day near the pool animators didn't organize any parties, dances or water aerobics. Thats why most of the visitors concentrated near the Gondola Bar

Also there is a Jacuzzi into the pool, which works till 5 p.m. I don't know why, I all time got cold there, and this forced me to swim. I am not professional swimmer, but I was not happy with deep of pool: 1.40 m. maximal. I couldn't make diving, I couldn't swim, but I could play in water polo. Unfortunately, only my rivalswas Sasha, who scared to stay in the cold water, that's why he putted gate on the land and shouted: "Shot!"

Venezia Palace also has its own beach. Near the beach we found area for relaxation, and small bar

About attractions

In the day tourists can play in ping-pong, water polo, mini-football, use water-slides, or visit Campanille Tower, where opened perfect view on the hotel. All equipments are in animators, but almost all time they were closed. First day I thought that we were just one visitor in this hotel, but in the night I changed my mind.

After dinner started work amphitheatre. For kids there were something like fast-disco (30 min), after started show-programs.

It was night of Flamenco, and was so perfect...

We liked time in amphitheatre the most: it was really attractive. After show some tourists moved to area with live music. Maybe there would be more funny, if singers and animators were not so sleepy.

Night life in Venezia Palace focused in La Piazza Club. It's a pretty place with white furniture, and open area. Music there was perfect, and to dance there - real pleasure. People, who decided to visit that night club possible was to count on the fingers, but for us it was huge plus - more free spare on the dance floor.

We liked design of Venezia Palace, and uncrowned after crazy Topkapi Palace had own charm. We didn't spend our time for searching free chaise-longue. In the evening we could easy find free tables for dinner. One more plus - lower, than in Topkapi and Kremlin Palace prices (130 euro/night).

But tourists, who look for colorful impressions, crazy night life, will be disappointed. Maybe the reason was the season: it was end of September, and Turkish schools started to facilitate. Maybe the reason of such silence was animators team: they were not active, and till the day they looked like bored. How can tourist get positive impulse from them?! Anyway, we brought with us in suitcase positive mood, and we spent good time in Venezia Palace.
